How wonderful are beach weddings! What’s the best part? That you can dress comfortably without sacrificing chic: in short, it’s the perfect time to feel beautiful while staying comfortable! Here’s how to do it.
Beach Wedding: Here’s What to Wear to Be Comfortable
No heels
If you have to walk on the sand, leave your heels at home! Even if it is not planned to be barefoot (the ceremony remains a formal moment, however informal the context), it is better to choose shoes that allow you to stay close to the ground! Flat sandals, especially caprese or jeweled sandals, but without heels, will be perfect. My suggestion, even if etiquette requires closed shoes for this type of ceremony, is to choose an open shoe instead, so that the sand does not bother you when getting into your shoes.
Light clothing and natural fabrics
Even if the ceremony takes place in the evening, it will still be hot: Ban all synthetic fabrics! Wear clothes made of natural fabrics, but with an elegant finish: silk available in all possible fabrics, satin, voile, crepe, muslin, eco-viscose or cotton, possibly in slightly shiny jersey. Unless the context is really very informal, I advise you to avoid linen, because, even if it is exceptional in summer, it has a very easy finish, a little too easy for a context that is not frankly casual like that of a ceremony.
Fluid lines
Don’t get too excited! Opt for soft, flowing lines: flowing dresses with knee-length skirts, wide palazzo pants, blouses with loose or sleeveless sleeves… in short, nothing that bothers you. There’s nothing worse, with the heat on the beach, than feeling suffocated by a dress that’s too tight!
Some jewels
Jewelry can be a great help in elevating a look, taking it from simple to sophisticated. Even at a beach wedding, they can fulfill this task: a very simple tunic dress, for example, can become an elegant wedding dress simply by adding a particular necklace or a pair of earrings. But at the same time, do not decorate yourself like Christmas trees: the heat is still very hot, the jewelry can be too heavy. Bet everything on one piece: necklace, earrings, ring or bracelet, also available in semi-precious stones or coral, very suitable for the occasion. The rest of the jewelry will be small and minimal.
Bright colors
Always keep in mind that there are colors that are forbidden at weddings: black, red, purple, white and ivory, as well as colors that are too bright and too vivid. On the beach, however, the context is different: you can dare to use some bright colors such as yellow, orange, a beautiful green or cornflower blue, to be toned down, in this case, with discreet jewelry. You can also opt for pastel tones, to be made more personal with trendy accessories. I recommend: avoid black, especially on the beach! In the Western world, it is the color associated with mourning: with all the offers on the market, it is impossible not to find an alternative!
Beach Wedding: Little Tips
Some additional tips: even if the ceremony takes place in the late afternoon, don’t forget to put on sunscreenbecause the sun beats down, tans and burns! Then, apply it to your face, décolleté, shoulders, arms… in short, all exposed areas, to avoid waking up the next morning with annoying marks and sore skin. Another tip: on the beach, the temperature can change suddenly. Just a little wind and in the evening it can even be cold. Don’t forget to plan something to put on your shoulders: a stole, a short jacket, a kimono jacket, a pashmina… your neck will thank you!
