The official titles of the British royal family are well known, but in the privacy of private rooms, behind closed doors, its members use less formal and more familiar terms. Some of them are very sweet and funny, especially if they are used by haughty figures like the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, or her husband, Prince William. Princess Charlotte also has a funny nickname that her mother likes to use in private.

William and Kate’s only child was born Charlotte Elizabeth Diana on May 2, 2015. But it didn’t take long for her proud parents to come up with cute abbreviations. One of Kate’s favorite nicknames is “Poppet.” She first came to prominence in 2018, when she was spotted shopping with George and Charlotte at The Range. Another shopper told the Daily Mail that at one point, Charlotte, then three, was sitting on the floor of the store, prompting mom Kate to tell her: “Get up, baby.”
