But she managed to outdo herself for one of the most important events at the Dutch court, namely the traditional Prinsjesdagthe opening day of Parliament which takes place every year on the third Tuesday in September and during which the Royals appear on the balcony of Noordeinde Palace to greet the crowds. The dress code requires that the royal family wear gala attire with all the honors. And of course the Queen and the Princesses take the opportunity to show off their most precious jewels.

This year Maxima opted for a long dress, powder blue, by Claes Iversenfrom 950 euros. The mikado dress, a special type of very resistant Japanese silk, is tight-fitting, with a round neck and a huge bow on one shoulder. As usual, the Sovereign loves details that catch the eye. The special feature of her look lies in the fact that the dress has been altered especially for her. In fact, the original model was sleeveless, but Maxima wore long sleeves, as protocol requires.
The accessories are fabulous. The Queen chose the clutch Lady Dior Cruiseperforated silver, which she paired with high metallic platform sandals, Evita 130, from AquazzuraMeghan Markle’s favorite shoe brand. Therefore, Her Majesty wanted an oversized touch, even in the shoes. The blue gloves and brimless hat and veil are a must.
The choice of jewelry was also carefully considered. In fact, Maxima wore the aquamarine earrings, which belonged to Willem-Alexander’s grandmother, Queen Juliana.
